ACube Systems Srl is pleased to announce the official launch of the end-user version of its embedded motherboard Sam440ep at Pianeta Amiga 2007 show in Empoli (Florence) the 22nd and 23rd of september 2007. The board will be immediately available for purchase at the show. Final prices and software bundle will be announced during the presentation conference that will be held saturday 22nd of september at 11.00am at Pianeta Amiga show.

ACube Systems Srl is pleased to announce the completion of Sam440ep project.
The board is actually available for selected industrial customers in three different configurations of the AMCC 440ep processor: 400Mhz with 128MB onboard memory, 533Mhz with 256MB onboard memory and 667Mhz with 512MB onboard memory.
On demand it is possible to customize the board with a number of options: cctalk, DiskOnChip, SmartMedia connector, LVDS port, DIMM 100 slot, variable FPGA size from 5.8 KLuts to 19.7 Kluts.
The porting of a number of Operating Systems has already begun.

Alternative Holding Group, Soft 3 and Virtual Works created today ACube Systems Srl, a company born to take care of the production and commercialisation of the Sam440ep product line.
Sam440ep will be the first manufactured motherboard. The heart of Sam is the PowerPC 440, a System On Chip (SoC) made by AMCC under a licence from IBM.
The main characteristic of a SoC system is the presence, together with the CPU, of a number of integrated peripherals which allow to build a complete system with a huge savings of both development and debug time, with less components and space used on the PCB. This also results in a significant cost reduction for the customer.
As a consequence, the board doesn't need the classical northbridge / southbridge combination because a part of their functionalities are implemented in the CPU, and the balance is provided by other components and devices.
The availability is planned for the first quarter of 2007.
The new company will continue to do research and development for current projects for the embedded and desktop markets.

Sam440 will be on show at Electronica 2006 an important european show dedicated to embedded and automotive world. The show will be held from 14 to 17 november in Munich. Sam440 will be on show at AVNET Memec's booth (stand 606 in hall A3).
